Privacy, in plain words

PondScan was built so there's almost nothing to write a privacy policy about.

No accounts, no signups.

No registration, login, email forms, analytics, ads, or trackers. We don't know who you are β€” built that way on purpose.

Your stuff stays on your phone.

Screenshots, scans, catches and history live only in your browser's local storage on your device. Never uploaded β€” the app code has no way to send your data anywhere.

The one third party: map tiles.

When online, the lake map loads tiles from CARTO (basemaps.cartocdn.com). Like any map service, their servers see your IP address and the area you view. That's the only outside service the app talks to.

πŸ“ Me: opt-in GPS.

The πŸ“ Me button asks for your location only when you tap it. Your position is used once, in memory, to center the map β€” never stored, never sent.

Kids.

PondScan collects nothing, so there's no data to consent to share. Still β€” steep banks, deep water: kids fish with an adult, always.

Delete everything.

It's all on your device, so you hold the eraser. Clear site data in your browser settings β€” or delete the Home Screen icon and clear history β€” and every trace is gone instantly.
